17 Weeks

17 weeks, sans makeup and 3 days deep in teh flu.

Yes, I realize this is a few days late, but with the holiday season, family in town, and a doozy case of the flu that I've had for 3 days now, this was the earliest I could get to posting =\. God bless the ladies who have morning sickness during their pregnancy, I can't imagine having to have lived like this for months at a time!
This photo shows the true size of the baby, I've eaten very little in the past few days, so what you see there is solid baby bear :)

How far along? 17 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: With having the flu, I'm sure I'm down a few lbs, but we don't own a scale so I can't say for sure.
Maternity clothes? I'm certainly using the belly band every day, but even that is starting to become uncomfortable. Might have to graduate to leggings and baggy sweaters soon.
Stretch marks? Nope, crossing my fingers that it stays that way!
Best moment this week: I'm starting to feel some movements, slight butterfly/bubble type feelings.
Miss anything: not so far
Movement: Feeling slight movements in there!
Food cravings: Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. Can't get enough.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope, luckily.
Have you started to show yet: Yes. My stomach gets a little harder and more visible each day.
Gender: Still unknown to us :)
Labor Signs: Nope, all is staying put and continuing to cook as planned
Belly Button in or out? Totally normal (in-betweenie)
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy
Looking forward to: Our 3D ultrasound in a few weeks

16 Weeks

These photos were taken at our 16week
ultrasound (12-18-12).  You are looking at the baby
as if he/she is laying on their back and
you are viewing their profile from the right side.
16 Weeks

Where on earth to start?  Today was such an amazing day that it warrants more than our typical 'weekly bump' photo and questions.  We had our 16 week ultrasound appointment today, and it was by far the most thrilling thing we've experienced in a long time.  The last time we saw our baby bear it was 7 weeks and resembled a blob. One that we loved dearly, but a blob none the less.  We've been reading many books that outline the progressive development of our bear, and we thought we had a good idea of how things were going, but to see it in real life.. there really are no words.

From the minute she put the probe on my stomach, we saw our little one moving around; making sucking motions, opening/closing its mouth, sucking its thumb, practicing breathing and moving slightly from side to side.  We saw a complete little skeleton, a beautiful little profile, the hemispheres of the brain, organs, fingers and toes, and most importantly, a fabulously strong beating heart (160bpm).  Yes, we can see the exterior changes from week to week, but actually seeing a living, breathing human being growing inside me was something truly awe inspring. People are always saying how blessed they are around the holidays, but after seeing our little bear growing like s/he should be, and hearing the heartbeat, there's really no other gift that I'd want in this whole world. We are so blessed with this little miracle, and can't wait to meet him or her.

How far along? 16 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: I'm officially back to my 'pre-baby' weight after losing some in the first trimester. According to the nurse, I've actually gained .2 lbs (which she told me with a smile). Every little bit helps I guess, even when my weight is concerned.
Maternity clothes? I've graduated to wearing more 'maternity' shirts than non, but I still wear the belly band every day.
Stretch marks? Nope, crossing my fingers that it stays that way!
Best moment this week: Seeing our amazing little blessing moving around and responding to the ultrasound.
Miss anything: not so far
Movement: Still nothing definitive yet, but after seeing how active it was on the ultrasound, I would imagine I'll start to feel it anyday now.
Food cravings: Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. Can't get enough.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope, luckily.
Have you started to show yet: Yes. My stomache is starting to get a little harder, and the overall shape is beginning to round out.
Gender: The Dr. took a look today and said she has a good idea, but we didnt want to find out.. (well, I don't, but Brandon would like to, so we are still debating on that one) ;)
Labor Signs: Nope, all is staying put and continuing to cook as planned
Belly Button in or out? Totally normal (in-betweenie)
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Deliriously happy.
Looking forward to: Feeling some of the movement that we saw on our scan.

Miss anything: not so far

Pregnant Lady Problems (so far)

Many people told me that I'd experience a wide variety of changes throughout pregnancy, but little did I know the experiences that I would have weren't things people would warn me about. This list will continue to grow, but so far the "experiences" I've had weren't what I had anticipated. So far they have been:
1) Memory loss. The other day I picked up a few Hershey kisses for a snack and put them in my pocket while walking around the house. A short unplanned nap later, I rolled over and felt something in my pocket.  I reached in and found my "snack" melted to my pocket. Hello accidental chocolate manicure =\
2) Irrational tears. While talking with a co-worker (male) the discussion got heated and I started to cry. He quickly changed the subject and left the room. I returned from lunch to find chocolate on my desk. It's ironic how uncomfortable men get around crying, but man, a small bag of chocolate covered peanuts can  really turn your day around. And ironically, completely make you forget why you cried to begin with.
3) Staring from others. While talking with another co-worker (female this time), I catch her staring at my stomach. I figured she was staring at the growing bump and kept talking. Mid-sentence, she stops me from talking and reaches out to adjust my shirt. Turns out she had been staring at the binder clip I was using to help hold my pants together. Not the baby bump. Good thing I ran to Target today and  bought a belly band.
4) Skewed sense of smell. While eating dinner one night, I smell something that vaguely reminds me of vomit. I notify everyone in the room (which was Brandon and Copper), look around me, only to find Brandon was eating Thai Peanut Chicken with parmesan cheese on stop. Sorry honey.. Hope you enjoyed your dinner =\
5) Estimation if my size. I bought a dress a few months ago for our annual holiday party at work, and when I purchased it, it was pretty big, but I wasn't worried because I have a great tailor who can fix just about anything. I took it to her to size down and she wasn't able to fix it, so I took it to moms house to have her look at it.  I tried it on, only to realize that I had grown into the dress, and it fit with no alterations needed. Turns out the baby is bigger than I thought.

As you can tell, pregnant me is a delight to be around.

Best moment this week: seeing the bump continue to grow
Miss anything: not so far
Movement: Everything I read says it is really early, but every so often I get a 'twinge' that makes me think we may have movement..
Food cravings: Pretzel and Nacho Cheese
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope, luckily.

And so it begins.. :)

How we announced the news to our friends :)

Much to the anticipation of family members, not only are we adding to the 'grand-kids troup', we are also jumping on the blogging bandwagon.  Early, we know, but since many of you live far away, this is the best way to keep everyone up to speed with happenings in our still developing Little One's world. :)

As previously mentioned to most of you, the little one is anticipated to arrive on June 4, 2013.  So as of today, I am 14 weeks.  The baby is now the size of a lemon ( approx. 3 inches long) which is pretty crazy to think about.  Truthfully though, it makes sense on some level, the fact that I haven't been able to button my pants properly for about a month now continually reminds me of the fact that things are growing as they should be.

The pregnancy has been great so far. No morning sickness to speak of, cravings have been fairly minimal, food aversions are another story, and dont even get me started on my skin.  It looks like I've gone through puberty all over again. I always hear that women get that 'pregnancy glow' but I feel like the only glow I have right now is the beautifully greasy hair and skin that looks like I'm constantly working out. (which, lets be honest, isn't happening).   On the plus side, I've only fallen asleep at my desk once during the workday; overall a success in my book.

We heard the heartbeat at our 12 week appointment, and it was a strong 153 beats/minute.  I know according to the old wives' tale, that indicates a pink, so we will see what happens.  The baby was very active as well, kept moving around when our Dr. would try to push to find the heartbeat, very cool to hear.  Our doctor is great so far, very honest and open, and a crier like me, so I'm sure future appointments will be interesting to say the least.

I've only had one irrational crying moment so far (I'm sure Brandon would be quick to say otherwise), and it was a doosey. I had purchased all spice to make a cheesecake for a party and could not find it for the life of me. I tried to find substitutes in my pantry that I could use, but of course, I was missing a key ingredient.  A flood of irrational tears, and a quick trip to the store by the husband, and all was saved.  He even got me flowers to boot.  So lucky he puts up with me, and helps save the day.

We take weekly 'bump' photos on Tuesdays, so check back soon and we will have an update.  I also found a fun questionare to take to show how things progress from week to week, so that will be included too.

Thanks for following, and we look forward to the next 6 months!
