22 Weeks

22 Weeks. Holy cow, the belly looks huge!

How far along? 22 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: +8lbs from pre-baby weight.  Completely irrational, but I cried.
Maternity clothes? Still comfortably rooted in the land of maternity leggings and sweater dresses.  I I need to do some shopping for maternity pants in the near future..
Stretch marks? None that I have noticed yet.
Best moment this week: Brandon has been able to feel the kicks 3 times in the past week!  Its so great he's able to experience that part of the pregnancy now with me :)
Miss anything: I could do without having to get up and pee in the middle of the night, but I know it is only practice for the days to come.
Movement: More and more active as the days go by. I keep trying to capture it on video to post on here, but he/she gets camera shy.
Food cravings: still loving the plain Bisquick pancakes.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope, luckily.
Have you started to show yet: yup.
Gender: We are still team green!
Labor Signs: Nope, all is staying put and continuing to cook as planned
Belly Button in or out? Still in (technically) but it is becoming flatter and flatter with each passing day.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy
Looking forward to: Still waiting for those hiccups!

21 weeks

Brandon and I at the wedding this weekend.

21 weeks

How far along? 21 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: According to the scale at work, I'm still hovering around the +5lbs from pre-baby weight.
Maternity clothes? Still comfortably rooted in the land of maternity leggings and sweater dresses.  On a positive note, I was a bridesmaid in a good friend's wedding this past weekend and my dress fit with no alterations to the middle! Success
Stretch marks? None that I have noticed yet.
Best moment this week: Brandon was able to feel the baby kick last night for the first time!!
About 4 or 5 kicks in a row :) We've been waiting for that moment for weeks!
Miss anything: I could do without having to get up and pee in the middle of the night, but I know it is only practice for the days to come.
Movement: More and more active as the days go by.  Brandon was able to feel some kicks last night, and at certain times they can be seen from the outside.
Food cravings: still loving the plain Bisquick pancakes.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope, luckily.
Have you started to show yet: yup.  I had a business colleague come up and ask me about it yesterday at a meeting. Glad to know I finally look pregnant to the outside world!
Looking forward to: I keep reading that babies get hiccups in-utero, and I cant wait for that first time we notice them!

Well that was awkward..

In many of the books I've read, and from what I've heard from other people's experiences, women get asked all sorts of random and inappropriate things while pregnant. I've brushed them off for the most part, but once I started thinking about it, the list is slowly growing and becoming increasingly more ridiculous.

The questions below are things that I have been asked by various people (so far). I'm only at the half way point (a little over actually) and I'm sure this list will continue to grow as I get bigger, but so far its been comical.

1) Do you have stretch marks yet? Why sure, random person who is not a family member or my husband, lets take a look at my stretched skin and see if we can find any.  Its like a twisted version of "I Spy".

2) Do you have any weird cravings? Let me tell you about what I couldn't live without when I was pregnant.. Um.. no, thank you. I haven't had any weird cravings so far, and your gross description of what you had to have will likely make me sick.

3) Do you guys have names picked out? Well we have a few that we like, but are keeping them private until the birth.
Oh, that’s no fun.. come-on, tell me, I can keep a secret! Why sure, we haven't told anyone in the world yet, including family members, what names we like, but sure, I will let you in on our little secret. I'm sure you can keep it quiet.

4) Do you have to pee all the time? If not, just wait, that will happen to you. Well thank you very much for the insight. I'm glad to know someone other than me is very keen to know about my restroom habits.

5) Oh gosh that looks heavy, do you want me to get that for you?! While I greatly appreciate the sentiment on this one, I'm only 5 months pregnant, not a complete invalid. I'll likely take you up on this offer later on, when I will struggle to stand up let alone carry anything, but for now, I'm doing ok with this box of light-bulbs.

6) Do you plan on having an epidural? Labor is very painful. Last I checked, birth is still a long ways away, and while I've thought about what I'd like to do, I likely won't be sharing these intimate details with you. But thanks for the reminder of what we have in our future. SO kind of you.

7) I hope for your sake that the baby is small.. Really? Really?! Thank you for that. Just, thanks.

8) Have you noticed a change in your hair yet? If its growing faster - especially on your legs - its definitely a boy. Thank you for your concern about my bodily hygiene. I'm good so far, but if I need someone to assess if I'm beginning to turn into Sasquatch, you'll be the first one I call.

9) How much weight have you gained so far? In our society, talking about a woman's weight is taboo enough, but asking when she's pregnant? Ballsy.

10) Were you guys trying? (voice drops to a whisper) or was it a surprise..? really lady? how do you expect this conversation to go? Why yes it was a surprise, in fact, we have a stressful work week and a bottle of wine to thank for this little blessing! (Which for the record is soo not true. We were trying and are so blessed to have created this little one!) but this is so rude to even ask!

** After putting this list together, I have to guiltily admit that I've asked more than a few of these to other pregnant women in the past.  If reading through this list and you feel you could have asked me one of the above items, dont sweat it at all!  It gave me a good laugh afterwards and a fun blog post.  To be truthful, its a wonder I'm able to even remember them!    ;)

20 Week 3D Ultrasound video

This is a short video that we got from the ultrasound yesterday.  Similar to the photos we posted, you can see good shots of the profile, the right hand, and if you look carefully, you can see the babies' left foot in the background.  (if you look at the babies' nose, directly infront of that, the foot appears at the beginning of the video, and again around the 9 second mark) Enjoy :)

20 weeks- Half Way Point!!!!!

Side profile with the left hand over the eyes/forehead.
Check out those fingers!

Another side profile image, a good glimpse of the
right hand (see the thumbs up?)
and the slightest hint of a smile :)

Side profile and image of the right arm and hand (see all 5 fingers!),
and bottom half (shin bone) of the right leg
along with the ankle/foot.

20 weeks- Half Way There!

We had our 20 week appointment today, and with that came many fun photos (a few of which you can see above!). Of course to us, we can tell what each image shows, but hopefully you are able to see our baby bear clearly enough.  Additionally in the appointment, we were able to see our bear in great detail, the organs all looked great, bones measured within the appropriate range, and the heart had a strong beat of 149 beats/minute.  It has a guestimated weight of 12 oz, and the head was measuring just under 2 inches from ear to ear (in diameter).
The baby was suprisingly shy for most of the appointment, he/she had their head facing my back for most of it, so the profile shots you see above were taken at the end of the appointment.  All is going well and growing as it should be.  We apparently have a big brained and big chested child growing in there, but she assured me that doesnt necessarily mean they will stay that way..
As of right now, we have no markers for any disorders, so thank you for the prayers of health you may have said for me and the baby.  They are much appreciated, and if you can remember, please continue to pray things go and grow according to plan!

How far along? 20 weeks/ Half Way There!
Total weight gain/loss: At our  appointment today, I'm up 4.8 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight. Making progress (finally!) at the half-way point
Maternity clothes? I had my first case of 'nothing looks good' outfit day yesterday, but we are still comfortably rooted in the land of maternity leggings and sweater dresses.
Stretch marks? None that I can see yet, but my skin is definitely tighter in places.
Best moment this week: our ultrasound appointment today.
Miss anything: I could do without having to get up and pee in the middle of the night, but I know it is only practice for the days to come.
Movement: I can feel more movement as the days go on, we are just waiting for a strong enough kick for Brandon to feel.
Food cravings: UPDATE on this one (finally): plain Bisquick pancakes. We've made them twice now in 2 days and I'm tempted to make them again tonight.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope, luckily.
Have you started to show yet: Yes. I can comfortably say I have "popped" now. The baby bump is clearly visible first thing in the mornings now too, not just in the evenings.
Gender: Still unknown to us, but people have begun to give their thoughts as to what it could be. Any guesses based on the photos above??
Labor Signs: Nope, all is staying put and continuing to cook as planned
Belly Button in or out? Still in, but the shape is beginning to change.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy
Looking forward to: Brandon being able to feel the baby's movement.

19 weeks

19 weeks

How far along? 19 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: W don't own a scale, but I think I'm pretty close to normal, weight wise.
Maternity clothes? I've worn nothing but maternity leggings and sweater dresses in the past week. And my first pair of maternity jeans on Friday, so I think I've officially graduated into pregnant lady territory.
Stretch marks? None that I can see yet, but my skin has definitely started to feel tighter in places.
Best moment this week: feeling more movement each day.
Miss anything: not so far
Movement: I can feel more movement as the days go on, we are just waiting for a strong enough kick for Brandon to feel.

18 weeks

18 weeks

How far along? 18 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: With having the flu, I'm sure I'm down a few lbs, but we don't own a scale so I can't say for sure.
Maternity clothes? Thanks to my mom I recevied my first pair of maternity leggings for Christmas, so I jumped on THAT bandwagon and bought a few more pairs yesterday. I'm far too large to fit into regular pants, but not quite large enough to wear bonafide maternity pants. These will have to tide me over till the baby grows a bit more.
Stretch marks? None that I can see yet, but my skin has definitely started to feel tighter in places.
Best moment this week: I felt two bonafide kicks this week!
Miss anything: not so far
Movement: I've felt a kick (finally!) and there are instances where I can feel him/her moving when I've been sitting in one position for too long. Apparently things are starting to become squished after too long.
Food cravings: Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. Literally have this once a week.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope, luckily.
Have you started to show yet: Yes. Brandon lovingly tells me "You're starting to look pregnant, but people may not ask you yet, just in case you aren't pregnant and only need to go to the gym." Awesome.
Gender: Still unknown to us , but people have begun to give their thoughts as to what it could be.
Labor Signs: Nope, all is staying put and continuing to cook as planned
Belly Button in or out? Still in, but I can tell the shape is beginning to change.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy
Looking forward to: Our 3D ultrasound in a few weeks.
